Mixed age circle meetings
Circle meetings take place each week and involve all children in the school. These meetings provide an opportunity for everyone to share in decision making and to have their voice heard. Minutes of the meetings are taken by our oldest children. We have an international reputation for our approach to democracy. You can read more about this approach from the following books:
- Democratic Citizenship in Schools: Teaching Controversial Issues, Traditions and Accountability, Jane Brown
- Leading a Creative School: Initiating and Sustaining School Change (Creative Teaching/Creative Schools), Ethel Sanders
Learning Review meetings
We hold Learning Review meetings for all children in Years 5 and 6 twice a year. This is an opportunity for children, families and teaching teams to discuss the progress being made. Dame Alison joins each meeting. Family Consultations are held for all other classes twice a year. Here is a film of Ellie talking about her learning in Year 6:
Parent / Family helpers
Parents are very welcome to help in the school. If you would like to help, please speak to the front office team. We run family learning sessions for parents and carers. These include Key Stage 2 maths, Early Reading and ICT. Please let us know if you would like to take part or suggest a new course.
