What happens in Year 4 at Wroxham?
In year 4, we continue to build on the work done in year 3 enabling the children to become more independent.
Much of our work is topic based –
Autumn term – Romans
Spring term – World War Two
Summer term – Tudors
English work is usually based in context; so for example when the children are learning to write informal letters they might write as if they were a World War Two Evacuee writing home. We also have weekly spellings based on the year 3/4 wordlist.
In maths, we continue to build upon their understanding and extend their learning at every opportunity.
In science, we start by looking at States of Matter exploring solids, liquids and gases. Next we explore light and shadows and forces. After Easter we look at the digestive system and different groups of plants.
In PE, the children continue to develop their sporting skills and begin to participate in team events against local schools. They also have weekly drumming and music lessons with Mr Earley.
We welcome support from families and are grateful for any help with hearing the children read.
Our school blog!
We keep a blog to keep our parents and children updated of what has happened and what’s going to happen throughout the year.
